The background material is a booklet about retail development of Halesworth produced by Ruth Downing and Denis Bellamy from the contributions of local historians and ordinary townsfolk. This booklet entitled 'Halesworth: an Ecological Society' was complied from original research, reminiscences and local documents. In August 2006, copies were distributed in the town, and lodged in the local library and county record offices. The 250 page booklet may be downloaded from www.halesworth.bravehost.com. It is now being transcribed for wikispaces and so made available for others to add to. To begin this project the interaction will be by invitation until a 'citizen's group' is assembled that can carry it forward in a democratic manner. So far, six sections of the booklet have been prepared for wikispaces and they can be accessed from the following menu.
